Terror Tacos: A Fully Vegan Taco Bar With a Horror-Movie Soul

October 1, 2026 · Plant Italia

a fully vegan taco bar on south grand

Terror Tacos sits on South Grand Boulevard. Every item on the menu is vegan, full stop. There’s no separate vegan section to hunt through. There are no substitutions to negotiate with your server, which on its own makes it worth the trip.

Tacos, burritos, and nachos make up the core of the menu. You order most of it at the counter, or through a QR code right at your table. It’s a fast, simple system once you know it. There’s a bar too, so this works as a hangout spot and not just a quick dinner stop. It suits a group that wants drinks alongside the food and no rush to leave.

the theme goes all the way

This is a horror-movie and heavy-metal restaurant, and it commits to that fully. The walls are dark. The lighting stays moody. The music runs loud, loud enough that you feel it in your chest rather than just hear it.

Horror movie memorabilia covers the walls. Gothic-framed rock and metal art hangs alongside it. Neon “blood” drips from the ceiling in a few spots, just in case the theme wasn’t clear yet. It is a genuinely fun room to sit in, even if quiet conversation is not really the point.

who ends up loving it

Terror Tacos plays especially well for people who already like horror movies or metal, but the food and the room win people over either way. Once you know what you’re walking into, it turns into a genuinely fun night out. It works well with a group, or as a birthday dinner for someone who would rather sit under a horror poster than a string of balloons.

a fellow vegan kitchen rooting for them

Our own team runs two vegan kitchens a few miles north in Creve Coeur: Bombay Food Junkies and Plant Italia. That means we know exactly how much work goes into building a menu with zero non-vegan fallback options. Terror Tacos does that across an entire bar and kitchen, sauces and toppings included. The menu never feels like it is compromising to get there.

A fully vegan restaurant with this specific a point of view is rare, and rarer still in St. Louis. We like seeing a restaurant commit to a strong identity instead of playing it safe for a wider crowd. We would rather send people their way than pretend we are the only vegan kitchen in town.

go in with the right expectations

Check their site for current hours before you head over, since that kind of detail shifts restaurant to restaurant and season to season. Come hungry and ready for noise. This is a place to bring people, not a quiet date-night spot, and it is better for it.
